SAGE and iFactory Launch Open Beta of SAGE Research Methods Online
BOSTON, MA and LOS ANGELES, CA—October 6, 2010—iFactory, an award-winning digital media design and development firm, and SAGE, the world's leading independent academic and professional publisher, have released a free Beta version of SAGE Research Methods Online (SRMO): the essential tool for researchers.
SRMO (srmo.sagepub.com) provides advanced search and discovery tools to support researchers and students as they explore relevant content across the social and behavioral sciences, covering quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods.
"SRMO combines world-leading content from a broad range of sources – books, dictionaries, encyclopedias, journals, videos – with a truly unique search and discovery solution which we think is going to offer everyone from new students to advanced researchers a really useful service," said Martha Sedgwick, Senior Manager, Online Products, SAGE. "We've had an incredibly positive response from both librarians and faculty since we opened the Beta version of SRMO, and their feedback during this period will enable us to enhance the platform even further."
More than 100,000 pages of SAGE's leading book and reference material on research methods are available through SRMO; a visual 'methods map' enables exploration of the connections between more than 1,400 unique methods, theories, and terms; and the SRMO List function will enable users to store and share selected content.
"SRMO has been a great project," said Tom Beyer, Director of Publishing for iFactory, "Developing a solution for the Methods Map that was both visually appealing and truly useful – presenting a deep and complicated data structure in an exciting way – is exactly what our team does best. The fact that people are chomping at the bit to get their hands on SRMO is just an indication of what a compelling product it is."
"We have worked with iFactory previously on our SAGE Reference Online product and were delighted to work with them again on developing SRMO," added Martha Sedgwick. "They have delivered a publishing solution that truly reflects the requirements of our target users."
The open beta version of SRMO will be available until the product's official launch in January 2011. During this period access will be free to anyone registering for a trial. For further information visit srmo.sagepub.com.
