iFactory Leads Redesign of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Website
BOSTON—June 28, 2011—With a 63-year history leading the fight against cancer, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a pioneering cancer care and research facility. iFactory, an award-winning interactive design and development firm, had the honor of redesigning and developing the organization's website.
iFactory was charged with redesigning the site for a host of different users through welcoming and innovative design. Along with this, they were tasked with restructuring the ways in which users search and find content.
"Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's website has a complex set of users with a variety of needs," said Alen Yen, President/Creative Director for iFactory. "We needed to engage in a user-centered discovery, architecture and design process to ensure we created the best possible experience for all site visitors."
With more than 4,000 pages of cancer-related content, the new site uses a new navigation system to make it easier for users—from patients to survivors to referring physicians—to quickly access the information they seek. The more functional and user-friendly site welcomes visitors with bold images that depict Dana-Farber's mission of research and clinical excellence.
Other new features of the site include: gateway pages for adult and childhood cancer survivors, and for referring physicians; how-to and medical news videos; physician video interviews; instructional care information; and recipes from Dana-Farber nutritionists.
"Thanks to a forward-thinking client team and organization," continued Yen, "we achieved our goal while supporting Dana-Farber's ongoing mission to understand, research and treat cancer. We were honored to work with such an incredible team and organization."
