Content Strategist

iFactory is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual with experience and skills in web content strategy, including strategy development, editorial planning, SEO best practices, and production (writing/editing). This role has a significant client-facing component.

The Content Strategist is a highly visible position. The selected candidate will report to the Content Strategy Head and will work with them, our Account Services team, and an Analytics & SEO Specialist to execute project-based website builds and ongoing marketing campaigns for our clients (primarily higher education).

The selected candidate will work closely with the iFactory project team – project managers, strategists, information architects, visual designers, technologists. You will also work directly with our clients to help them solve problems and ultimately create websites that improve student engagement and enrollment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and/or implementing the content strategy execution for client projects. This includes helping our clients organize their current content and helping them roadmap toward future content creation. 
  • Understanding what makes our clients unique and finding a way to express that through content: conduct content audits, work on branding exercises, work across disciplines within iFactory to ensure content and brand voice fit client goals and objectives.
  • UX copywriting, including providing editorial input, and working with visual design production staff at iFactory to create dynamic custom landing pages for our clients.
  • Proofing and editing all content prior to submission to client for review.
  • Presenting to clients, walking them through the process and various deliverables, gathering their feedback, and ensuring the feedback is addressed in some fashion.
  • Creating governance materials, including managing of workflows among the various parties involved in content creation, review and approval.
  • Working closely with the iFactory technical team to review/recommend various CMS packages, address content accessibility standards, ensure mechanisms are in place to measure the effectiveness of content.
  • Along with Content Strategy Head, overseeing freelancers, including writers/editors.
  • Working with Account Managers to identify content opportunities for clients.
  • Working with other team members to ensure Google Analytics are set up to provide key data on how content is performing (including SEO).

Required skills:

  • 3-5 years experience managing content for marketing websites, preferably in higher education
  • Strong SEO experience; knowledge of how SEO and Google Analytics work together
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
  • Cooperative, pleasant, collaborative team player
  • Strong consultative and customer relationship management skills
  • Ability to work across multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team
  • Basic working knowledge of HTML and SEO practices
  • Strong attention to detail, disciplined process, and ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Experience with Google Webmaster Tools for SEO and content performance analysis
  • Experience with both open source and proprietary content management systems
