Rutgers University is a large four-year research institution with multiple campuses. Their outdated undergraduate admissions pages impeded student enrollment. The new admissions sites had to showcase the qualities of Rutgers’ three distinct campuses while also illustrating their interconnection. This higher education web development project also had to live in a single content management system while presenting multiple views.
CONSISTENCY IN SIMPLICITY
A solution for everyone
We had to address the concerns of all campus stakeholders, so we conducted group and one-on-one interviews to understand what made each of the three campuses unique.
We used strong color stories to brand each campus site, but used consistent UI and design elements to ensure we also told the comprehensive undergraduate student experience at Rutgers in a way that made sense to users.
GIVE STUDENTS WHAT THEY NEED
Finding a major
We created a comprehensive program finder where students can filter by interest, location and school. Then we placed persistent calls to action on all program details pages to help drive prospective students through the enrollment funnel. This intuitive information ensured students always knew where they were within the admissions site.
