Our approach to accessible design, accessibility audits, & remediation
Accessible design
Websites for higher education, nonprofit, and healthcare organizations, optimized for all users regardless of ability:
- Design that faithfully follows standards, specifically WCAG 2.2 AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines)
- Implementation of custom features such as adjustable text size and contrast, and reduced motion modes
- Testing with assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, and other hardware and software
- Creating content with correct semantic structure for better interfacing with assistive technologies (and better for SEO)
Accessibility audits
Examining the current state of a website or application to identify critical issues, measure user impact, and provide guidance for effective remediation:
- In-depth manual and automated testing against WCAG 2.2 success criteria
- Usability testing with people who have low vision, are blind, or have neurodivergence
- Detailed reports identifying issues by severity and user impact, with a suggested practical solution to each issue
- Clear, prioritized remediation roadmap
- Accessibility Conformance Report (a completed VPAT)
Accessibility remediation
Address accessibility issues at the code, design, and content levels to ensure lasting adherence to WCAG 2.2 and an inclusive user experience:
- Code remediation using semantic HTML plus ARIA, to correct roles, states, and values, focus and keyboard operability, and more
- Design updates to text size and contrast, document structure, and navigation
- Content remediation of image alt text, video captioning, heading structure, descriptive links, and copy written at a lower secondary reading level
Accessibility training
Tailored, hands-on training for designers, developers, and content editors so your team can confidently maintain accessible digital experiences. Past training sessions have included:
- Using assistive technologies
- Developing accessible front-end components
- Structuring content semantically for screen readers and other tools
- Properly captioning videos
- Making accessible documents such as PDF, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Elevating the digital experience for vision loss adaptation
When the gold standard for website accessibility isn’t good enough, what do we do? We create a new standard.
Accessibility and great design are not mutually exclusive. We know from experience. Working with Hadley, a nonprofit focused on users with a visual impairment, we created a groundbreaking, user-centric online experience for adults with vision loss.
Customizable options put users in control. They can learn adaptive skills, get helpful tips, connect with experts, and be part of a supportive community. All of this within a user-friendly interface that results in more people joining Hadley.
